More Brownies and Leprechauns.

Another page of possible characters for the new Irish Myths inspired book project I will be starting in May. I'm just trying to get a bit of a head start on some of the character designs. I'm anticipating the need for a variety of colourful bit players to populate the backgrounds and border regions of some illustrations.

I like the little guy to the left of the one with the walking stick/staff.
What grade pencil do you use for these sketches? If I were to hazard a guess... 2B?

Oh my goodness Larry, I Love these guys, I hope that one day, you put all of your mystic people into a book of your own. I would definately buy you book. I want them all to come over here and live with me. xxx

The pencil I tend to use the most these days is a simple, bic disposable tech pencil - it seems to have just the right feel and of course no sharpening. But I still like the old wooden pencils as well and it's usually a 2B as you guessed :)

Thanks Tiny Pearl. I have a story in mind that I would love to illustrate but I have to write it first and that seems to be where the whole process goes into the ditch :)

Larry, your art is incredible and has inspired me to do more sketching involving mythology and the sword work I do:
