Sketchbook

Some of the doodle work for the project I'm currently on. Nothing too specific here - just thinking and exploring.

Sketchbook

Some rough character ideas for the project I'm working on at the moment. There's still a lot to figure out - keep on drawing :)

Leprechaun

This is one from last year. This is my first take on the Teeney O'Feeney character from the book I've been working on for the last year or so and will be finishing up later this summer if all goes well. This version was rejected because we felt he didn't quite capture the spirit of the character as we wanted to portray him. I still like this one - perhaps more now that enough time has gone by that I've been able to seperate him from the story.

Boreal Ogre

This is a quick watercolour sketch from a few years back - imagining what a nasty old ogre from the Northern Wilderness might look like.

Sketchbook - Hobgoblins

More of the prep work I've been doing for the Hobgoblins project I'm on. Part of my morning warm up routine - stream of consciousness work - just sit down and go :)

Kitchen Finks

This is the last Magic Card I did for the Lorwyn set. It belongs to a special set called FNM cards. I don't really know what that means exactly but this card was fun to do and I'm pretty happy with it. These little blighters have just raided a kitchen and are making off with the goods.

Warming Up

I recently picked up this cool little book on facial expressions. The book is just full of pictures of different people pulling faces. The two drawings posted here were taken from that book as part of one days warm up drawing. It's amazing how much squash and stretch there is in a human face.
Not all of the models in the book were ready to fully commit to making extreme expressions but these two girls certainly were. It also helps to push things a little yourself :)
